origins of the cold war.
the cold war started out as differences in ideologies, but this later branched out into military aggression and isolation.
firstly, one must understand the underlying difference between the us and the ussr ( not the addition of 'sr' ) - us is democratic and the soviets are communists. obviously two totally opposing ideologies. both countries already started out on a bad note.
so when the ussr starts installing the military into eastern europe (sovietisation) the us thought the soviets were getting ready for another war, when in fact the ussr was weakened like shit after world war 2. so the military was just for protecting its borders. first mistake.
then initially after the war, it was agreed by both sides that germany should be kept weakened to prevent a resurgence. but after that the us introduced marshall plan to strengthen west germany's and the rest of western europe's economy, in order to boost trade ( and also prevent communism from setting into the region ). so the soviets think that the us was trying to be funny and threatening the ussr with a stronger w.europe. mistake 2.
construction of the berlin wall was the final straw that broke the camel's back. it meant that there were now two distinct spheres of influences - the us ( nato ) and ussr ( warsaw pact ). so got wall means i don't want to talk to u, u don't even want to see my face. mistake 3.
how's that a hist lesson for u. as u can see, even great leaders tend to make the simplest of mistakes - misinterpretation of each other's motives and misperceptions of what the other person thinks. and all because they nvr give any reason for what they had done. just keep quiet and hope the other country doesnt find out, which obviously is quite stupid.
this is an analogy for a certain incident, in case ur wondering why im so random.
