something is seriously wrong abt the education system.
i think the sch has got themselves confused over h1 and h2. h2 history is more like 2 h1 units combined together, which shouldnt be the case since h1 is supposed to be a 'scaled-down' version of h2. so why the heck are we spending the same amount of time on TWO history modules as a single subject like chemistry or biology. h1 history ie international history is exactly the same stuff regardless of h1 or h2. yet we only get 1 additional lecture and tutorial for another totally different history module ie southeast asia.
hello one lecture-tutorial for each module, no, let's call it subject is not enough pls. if h2 history was just an extension of h1 ( like going deeper into cold war espionage and other cool stuff not covered in the syllabus ) then the situation wouldnt be so bad. but it isnt the case. this is why history is the most difficult subject to get a for. coz the education planning is all wrong.
yet we can spend 3.5h doing a h1 sub ie gp, not including the time spent on doing content-heavy work like powerpoint presentations ala sec4 eng lessons and newspaper articles. if the sch thinks gp was such an impt sub ( where a pass or e-grade is required for promotion ) then why don't make it a h2 subject? i would be more than happy to drop bio for my forte and sth which would be much more relevant to my career path.
cutting the damn newspaper articles alr takes up 1/3 of the total time spent on the assignment. is tt stupid or what?
ok im not being a young elitist rafflesian here but i think in the case of what we are doing now for gp, some ppl need this stuff more than others. as in, if they need help, then of course help them la. but dun have to involve everyone who's got more important stuff to focus their attention on. i think gabriel wee's style of teaching was much better. ok, maybe he kindda concentrated too much of skills, but he doesnt dump u with excessive readings other than the cannot-get-away-with info packs. i dun even have time to read my hist notes la wtf.
singapore seriously needs thinkers.
