yep im back. back in singapore. back on this blog.
it's been 10 years since i touched down at narita airport. a lot has changed - the airport has been renovated, shinjuku has much more new skyscrapers, and the metro is new, clean and well-lit. ppl here now can speak eng - only thing is the fluency. but it is still a bit hard to order in certain restaurants whose menus have no pics =/
japan is so similar yet different when compared to singapore. everyone's asian but the attitude in life is worlds apart. the japanese have a strong regard for safety, and also respect for one another. this is reflected in basic courtesy like queuing up in single file while waiting for the train, keeping to the left of the escalator so that people in a hurry can quickly walk up or down on the right, and greeting customers who walk past their sections in dept. stores even though they nvr really enter.
it's such little things that combine to make a huge difference, and makes me consider whether i should work there in the future.
i mean, the transport system there is so well-designed. the only trouble i had with the train and metro is finding the stop on the map. other than that, the signs in the stations are well constructed and there is absolutely no chance of getting lost, even if the place is as big as orchard road. they're all underground btw. i think i can rem the directions and various train changes for life.
food is excellent and cheap - of course don't eat at the high-end places la, my hotel included lol. i think i took more photos of food than anything else. the subway itself is full of small restaurants and bakeries. when i say subway. i think singapore is trying to copy it in the form of the citylink mall, but it has failed miserably in terms of commuter and area size and variety of shops.
i was only there for 3 days, yea wtf? tokyo is how freakin big and there was not enough time to tour the whole city. shinjuku, where i was staying, alr took us 2 days o.o but we split the journey la.
jap ladies are chio and jap kids are cute. seriously. oh i bought a new camera while i was there, tt's y u see the photos quality q good rite. canon ixy digital 910 is, aka canon digital ixus 860 is. it's damn cheap la. around 370 compared to 599 in sg. only thing is there's no int warranty, but who gives a damn. not like u gg to drop ur camera in water. ok u might. actually i dropped it on the plane during take-off and it slid about 3 seats down =x. still functioning though. too bad couldnt buy a nintendo wii. it's a bit cheaper than my camera only haiz.
to be honest, i did not fully enjoy my trip because going overseas with parents is stupid, retarded and causes a lot of trouble. let's just say tt we werent prepared when we reached the airport, and throughout the journey many hiccups happened. irritating. nxt time im going with friends or myself le.
fuck la come back alr now must mug. tonight going to join the bowlers at chalet till tmr. then weekend gone again due to camp and sats. my ct2 is ggxx.
