recently there has been a trend of punishing people with the task of writing essays.
topics include why u shouldn't sleep during training and why u shouldn't use one hand to turn a certain tool on a certain expensive vehicle.
the hottest topic, which has seen ten entries so far, is more or less like a typical econs essay or case study qn.
a) account for the increasing number of status personnel.
b) how to reduce the number of status personnel.
c) explain why people tend to report sick late and get attend c.
part c presumably refers to getting an mc on a wkend.
now there are 3 parts to this essay which we must answer.
u will notice that part c is linked to part a. since there is no specific requirement for u to answer the qns in the order given, it is recommended that you answer part a and c tgt first.
since ur tasked w writing the essay, ur given the benefit of the doubt. as such, u shld take this opportunity to clarify any doubts regarding status personnel which others might have.
ur arguments should include the rationale behind the implementation of the status system which is in favour of the men's welfare, and also the right to treat ourselves when we're ill. however u should also provide a balanced argument, which means u need to criticize the system for being hypocritical.
eg. does light duties equate to carrying fully-filled 20kg jerry cans?
note that the markers of ur essay are expecting a standard ans, and it is understandable that writers tend to not follow the norm. but it is highly recommended to include a few pointers which will get a nod from the markers.
as long as you have the point "some ppl are actually malingering and actually report sick to miss training" u will not be penalised.
how would u ans part b then?
obviously u cannot stop ppl from reporting sick - it's a basic human right. however again markers are expecting standard ans, so it would be good to include the suggestion that everyone should be responsible for their own health, and not report sick for just very minor illnesses like cough or runny nose.
of course such symptoms could get worse if not treated promptly and u risk getting a longer status which just complicates things further.
if _____ was like a freshman camp there wouldn't be so many ppl reporting sick.
