some amsuing experiences with technology.

one.

i came home on a nights out, only to find that starhub's broadband service had crashed. so the only site which i could access was google, which wasn't really helpful since google search results couldn't show up.

this isn't the first time the internet service in my area had gone down, but to make sure this wasn't one of those days that my mum had forgotten to pay the bill, i called the starhub hotline.

apparently it went down as well.

okay, not really. just tt it was too flooded w calls to take mine, so i had to listen to an automated machine instead.

>> if you still wish to contact us, u may do so via email...

now how would i enquire about my internet problem?

two.

as some of you might have already known, i've bought a new phone.

it should be perfectly alright that im using my own money to purchase it, but the problem is i've already been reminded so many times by my parents not to spend unnecessarily, especially aft i've spent 800 on a joint investment on my new pc.

i get their point.

if i keep this up i might find myself eating bread everyday in uni, and having to write on those extra ri foolscap paper at home.

but things like this dun hang around forever, unlike stuff like food which u can buy almost any other day.

i regard the phone as a fashion accessory.

what's making it more unnecessary is the fact that i only can use it for at most 2.5 days a week, meaning that my phone is severely under-utilised.

which doesn't justify the hefty 790 price tag.

but i bought it anw just to satisfy my boredom with the samsung, which im seriously considering selling, if not for the fact that i still need a 3g phone to roam.

closing to one month anniversary with this new toy, my parents still havent found out i had bought a new phone.

i figured that as long as i dun use it in front of them, they will never find out.

today i was so close to being busted.

u see, my phone has the option to customise the voicemail option, so u won't hear the standard monotonous lady's voice when i've failed to pick up ur call.

>> please leave a msg after the tone.

instead mine is a japanese lady in charge.

i nearly gave the game away when my mum called me 5 times and i didn't answer, forcing her to listen to a lady talking to her in a language she could recognise but not understand.

she thought she had dialed the number wrongly at first.

when i saw that i had a voice msg from my mum's number, i wasn't feeling good alr.

>> shit, she must have heard aimi..

tt's the name i gave my front-desk girl.

later my mum asked me why there was a japanese voice and i told her i had customised it.

that's half-true really, i din lie.

when the time is right, i will finish the story.
